Cats

Mar 16 2010

ILoveSpoiltpig is hosting a Felidae arts & craft swap over the next few weeks and in the initial stages, it was suggested that this would be a good opportunity to raise some awareness for that wonderful place a lot of us have found our own little kitty cats (or if you’re like me, hope to one day).
Please take the time to read this entry, follow the links and find out more about these appeals and how you could help.

Cats Protection is the leading UK welfare charity for kitties,  with 250 volunteer branches(many run from their own homes) and 29 adoption centres.

They do SO much work to care for and re home cats and kittens and provide invaluable services through their neutering schemes and veterinary centre and there are many ways in which you could help out…

This year being the Chinese year of the tiger, let’s not forget our big cat friends across the globe too.

New studies indicate there may be as few as 3,200 tigers left in the wild

Tiger numbers have gone down by a huge 95% in the past century – and their habitat shrunk by 40% in the last decade alone, largely because of deforestation.
They are still hunted for their skins and their bones used in ‘medicine’  despite the international and national bans.

Amur Leopard ~ Endangered Species
The Amur Leopard is the worlds most endangered big cat, with fewer than 35 left in the wild.  It is killed for it’s skin and has lost huge amounts of it’s hunting and feeding grounds.  Check out what the WWF is doing to restore this leopards habitat and what you can do to help save them from extinction -
Amur leopard appeal.

That last appeal really got to me and I’ve just adopted an Amur Leopard, it’s not a lot but it’s all I have and I’m sure every little helps.
