I’ve been missing in action for the last wee while…well, on the old interwebs anyway.   I’m still too tired from summers markets to really write anything very enthusiastic but it has been fun and I do promise some exciting news and adventure stories are to come soon!

In the meantime though, I’ll leave you with some recommended viewing/listening material.  I spent a lot of August through at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and here are some clips of my favourite performers…

“Granny Would Be Proud” is the bestest Vintage & Crafts event in THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD  (Glasgow…west end…okay, Vinecombe St -I think that’s a claim I can safely make, but it IS awesome).

“Small but perfectly formed vintage and craft fair, followed by down to earth fashion and craft lovers, enough love for all, from Punks to Goths, Retro to Indie. Smiley sellers guaranteed, very affordable (nothing over £50), retro and games tea room.”

.               .               .               .

GWBP has made a cosy wee home in the Hillhead Bookclub and SpoiltPig is thrilled to be part of the furniture now and exhibiting at the fair again THIS SUNDAY 15th August 2010.

Please do stop by.  Come check out the all the unique, handmade designer wares and vintage and retro fashions….you may even like to pick yourself(me) up a gramophone filled with delicious cocktails(true story, they really do have gramophones filled with booze)!

SEE YOU THERE

EDIT:  Yes, we’re still on for Sunday…but i forgot to mention that the delightful Bunny from “Bunny and The Misshapes” is swapping the microphone for ‘making’ this weekend and will be joining me at the table with her own unique collection of re-worked vintage pieces and beaded jewellery. Exciting!

WAS AWESOME.

Saw Amanda Palmer at Oran Mor last night, was pretty bummed about Jason Webley and other music makers not being able to make it over from the US but but but BUT HE WAS THERE, on a laptop screen, plugged into a speaker and they played. They fucking played Evelyn Evelyn together…from two different countries. at the same time. in two different countries. and I got to see it!  Technology is fucking ace, it really is.

Evelyn Evelyn 1 -  Volcanic ash 0

I’m too fucked up drunk still to do this properly and link up all the fantastic people involved in the gig but I beg you to google search Evelyn Evelyn and get into it,  it’s easy done.

Also, I made presents and like the big weirdo I am, made someone else hand it over.  I was too mortified at the time to actually appreciate anything that was happening. Fear is stupid. Being embarrassed about giving presents is stupid. Being taken aback by a hug is stupid!

So like, if Amanda Fucking Palmer reads this…

“WOW, show was fucking awesome. You rock. Thanks for a fantastic night!  It was wonderful and all kinds of fucked up brilliance.  and thanks for the hug. Hugs are lovely.  I really hope you like/d the present, I hope Jason likes it too(I got an email, I think he does, maybe he was being polite).  Hope you’ve had a good night, hope the rest of the tour is ace for you. Goodnight”

.     .     .     .     .

and for everyone who didn’t already spot it on facebook/flickr, this is what I made:

This is the shit that happens when you chill the fuck out.  I’m so happy I closed the shop the other week. SO HAPPY now. All I needed was that one week to realise how off track I’d gotten.  Making things for money can be so ugly.  It’s stressful and tiring and eats away at all the good stuff in you.   So I took a break and gave myself some space….and then ended up making more things anyway :)  and it felt GOOD. To makes something completely for me, something I didn’t have to worry ‘will anyone buy this?’ – I didn’t have to force myself to sit down and design things, it just happened. I heard a song, I sang along, I made a little scribble doodle and then turned  it into something else and it was FUN and it was EASY and lovely.   and it gave me the little boost I needed to get my shit together and I ended up doing a market in Glasgow before the gig.  I made enough money to pay my phonebill and give me this absolutely stinking hangover and one girl squealed and jumped up and down when she spied my stall. It was lovely. Everyone was lovely.

to summarise, I had an awesome weekend and I think it’s all because of Evelyn Evelyn.

I GOT THE FUCKING TICKETS.
Yuss!

Drama – So the Evelyn Evelyn gig at Oran Mor was announced, no clue who they were but Amanda Palmer playing the same gig meant I HAD to go.  Thought I’d never be able to afford tickets, finally raised monies by doing another stall at Sloans market….and it was SOLD OUT.
During the course of my frantic jewellery making and attempting to promote and sell stuff for ticket money, I listened to some Jason Webley and got to know the wonderful mystery behind the amazing Evelyn Evelyn act, so was doubly triply quadruply GUTTED reading the poster outside Tickets Scotland last Sunday.  ’Sold out’ in its mocking bold capitals.
I swore, I ranted, I blasted the internet with ‘any spare tickets?!~’  and I secretly hoped that someone I knew might fall ill at the last minute and ask me to take their place.

Couple days later, I calmed down, moved on, wrote a blog about cats and adopted an Amur Leopard through the WWF.   THEN at 15:57 yesterday, Matt Papacool breezed in with his superhero, super MAGNIFICENT ways to tell me a few more tickets had been released and I was on two of them :)

I have my booking confirmation, tickets are in the post and have finally just taken a breath after all the hopping, jumping, squealing of last nights ‘I might have them! do i have them? is that an email?!~’ excitements.

.     .     .     .     .

So what’s all the fuss about?…

and
That’s pretty much it.
Tickets available from TicketMaster.
Evelyn Evelyn debut album on pre-order from Amazon.
